Performing as a Pianist in North Yorkshire
My name is Eugene Portman and I always look forward to visiting North Yorkshire as a pianist. In fact, I was born in the county, so it’s always nice to visit home. This area is beautiful and there are many wonderful venues. These venues range from castles, historic buildings, and country pubs to luxury hotels. At one time or another, I have played the piano in many of North Yorkshire’s venues, but there are still many more to go.
Me as a Wedding Pianist in North Yorkshire
If you look around this website you will notice that the website is mostly about my work as a sing-along pianist. However, I do much more than that. North Yorkshire provides me with a steady stream of work as a wedding pianist.
This means that I have to be versatile and be able to perform many styles of music. Weddings often require different styles of music for each part of the day. For instance, classical music is very popular for ceremonies, whereas jazz is definitely the in-thing for drinks receptions. Also, music for the wedding breakfast would have a completely different mood to the music performed for the evening reception.
The Baby Grand Piano Shell
There are very few pianos in North Yorkshire’s venues and pianists usually have to use digital pianos. These work really well and sound superb. However, most people prefer the look of a normal piano. I have the answer in the form of a baby grand piano shell. As it’s name implies, it is a shell in the form of a grand piano and it discretely hides a digital piano. The result really looks like a proper piano and really does make a focal point at any event.
I charge £80 for this and it can be set up anywhere.
