Performing as a Pianist in Northumberland
My name is Eugene Portman and I always look forward to visiting Northumberland as a pianist. The county has the lowest population density in the country, yet it has an incredible diversity of venues. A lot of these venues are castles, although the area does have a lot of country house hotels.
Northumberland is a big wedding destination and this is the reason why I do so much work in the area as a pianist.
Me as a Wedding Pianist
This website is mostly about my work as a sing-along pianist, but I do much more than that. A lot of my work in Northumberland is as a wedding pianist and I have to be versatile to be successful at this. I am often expected to perform different styles of music for the various parts of the day. For example, classical music is often the preferred choice for ceremonies, yet a drinks reception would probably have something a bit lighter such as jazz.
The Baby Grand Piano Shell
Very few venues have pianos in Northumberland, so a pianist would have to take a digital piano when performing in most of them. Digital pianos work really well in most situations, but there are occasions when something more like a real piano is preferrable. I have the answer in the form of a baby grand piano shell. This discretely houses a normal digital piano, but transforms it into a focal point.
I charge an extra £80 for this and I can set it up anywhere.
Please explore the rest of this site to find out about my sing-along work. If you are interested in other styles of music and weddings, please explore www.eugeneportman.com and www.ukweddingpianist.co.uk.
