Working as a Pianist in Somerset
My name is Eugene Portman and I always enjoy working in Somerset as a pianist. The county is beautiful and has many wonderful venues to match. Furthermore, the region and its venues are very popular with couples wishing to get married in a rural setting. I have worked in many of the area’s country pubs and hotels doing a variety of different types of events.
My Work as a Wedding Pianist
While this website is mainly about my work as a sing-along pianist, Somerset provides me with work that requires different styles of music. These other styles of music are essential when it comes to playing the piano for weddings. Just to clarify, I am often required to perform different styles of music for the various parts of the wedding day. For instance, I am often asked to play classical music for the ceremony, while the drinks reception might require something altogether different such as jazz or rock.
Please explore the rest of this site if you are interested in my work as a sing-along pianist. Otherwise, please visit www.ukweddingpianist.co.uk and www.eugeneportman.com for more information about weddings and other styles of music.
The Baby Grand Piano Shell
I’ve noticed that most of the venues in Somerset don’t have pianos and pianists have to play a digital piano. This works very well except for the fact that many people prefer the appearance of a traditional upright or grand piano. For that reason, we need something else. This is where my baby grand piano shell comes into its own. Furthermore, it can be set up anywhere and only costs an additional £80 on top of my regular fee.
I do a lot of work in Somerset as a pianist. Here are some of the principal towns, cities and villages I’ve visited:
- Shepton Mallet
- North Petherton
- Castle Cary
- Milborne Port
- South Petherton
- Bishops Lydeard
- Curry Rivel
- Creech Saint Michael
