Working as a Pianist in Dorset
My name is Eugene Portman and I always look forward to working in Dorset as a pianist. It is one of my favourite areas and I have played the piano in many of its great venues. These range from wonderful country pubs to country house venues and coastal resort hotels.
Me as a Wedding Pianist
This website is mostly about my role as a sing-along pianist and Dorset has provided me with plenty of this type of work in the past. However, I also play other genres of music and play the piano for many different types of events including weddings. To be successful as a wedding pianist I have to be versatile and adept at playing many different styles of music. Playing for weddings can involve playing different styles of music for the various parts of the day. For example classical music is frequently requested for ceremonies while the drinks reception may call for something more lively such as jazz. The genres I cover include jazz, classical, blues, rock, pop, and singalong.

The Baby Grand Piano Shell
Most of the time pianists have to take a digital piano to most of the venues in Dorset. This works really well, but most people prefer the appearance of a traditional upright or grand piano. This is when the baby grand piano shell comes into its own. The grand piano shell discretely houses a normal digital piano and transforms it into a focal point for your event.
I charge £80 on top of my normal fee for the shell and it can be set up anywhere.
